29 July, on the red tracks of Cobb&Co

A coach to Bourke full of Lightning opals

A nice sunny morning.. Lightning Ridge is a little funny city full of strange people – they all have got opal-sickness. Driving around mounds and little plywood sheds called houses you hardly recognize a town. They can live here 30 years just for a little esperance to dig out once a nice opal.

We are lucky – today is a festival day in Lightning Ridge. There is enough time to visit a little market with colourful stones.

The team 218 finds one another at-traction in local style “Walk-In-Mine-under-Tracbar” : na, Christian, how is the longeron?

Through the opal fields we start to move along tracks with a history of the first Australian coach company and with jumping kangaroos. Diligences Tracbar move along changing landscapes towards the Gateway to the real Outback – Bourke.
