Tamworth à Lighting Ridge
through the country fields to the first red tracks
Tamworth, early morning, cold. The car 040 is getting popular by youth: Mike doesn’t like to drive at the back, so less chance to get stuck on the road with unlucky cars .
Today is a big driving day towards Lightning Ridge.
After 80 km boring goudron we turn to the Mount Kaputar National Park. Almost all cars are moving altogether, but the sun doesn’t appreciate this possibility for a photosession.
Cows, parrots and dust welcome participants. The country road is winding between farms, hills, crossing local typical creeks, dips, causeways.
The stop at the Sawn Rocks – time to stretch Dreamquest’s legs. A path of 700m leads to a magnificent pipe-rocks. All our geological demands are satisfied by stories from Jean-Michel, professional geologist from team OT3.
Crossing the Narrabri shire, we stop again at the Australia Tekeskope which impresses with its 6 huge plates. Our plate of the day is lunchbox…
